About Tara
"To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It's a way of life." — Henri Cartier-Bresson
Hello there!
I’m Tara of Tara Parekh Photography. I am a Washington, DC area photographer based out of Alexandria, Virginia. I specialize in photographing families, couples and engagements, micro weddings and elopements, and more.
When I am not photographing people, I love taking photos of flowers and plants, wildlife, and landscapes. You can bring my photography into your home or work space by purchasing luxury Italian wall art through my gallery.
Here are a few things about me:
I have a master’s degree in digital photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and a bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Apart from my photography work, I also work as a graphic designer.
I am a published author of two books: Oatland Island: Photographs and History, and 2002 Photographs of Thailand and Cambodia.
I love when my clients bring their pets to our photo sessions. I am a proud dog mom to a beautiful goldendoodle.
Oatland Island Photographs and History
by Tara Jan Parekh
Oatland Island, located five miles east of Savannah, Georgia, has a unique history. Although it is an education center today, the walls once housed retired railroad conductors, patients, scientists, inventors, and teachers. This book showcases various photographs of the Oatland Island facilities, and documents the rich history and stories of its evolution from a retirement community for the Order of Railway Conductors, to a United States Public Heath Service research hospital, to the original location of the Centers for Disease Control, and to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center of Savannah, Georgia.
